Super-quickie highlights of the past week and a half:
- Saw the Cowboy Bebop movie, twice, once with a comic-artist friend and once with my youngest brother. The younger-brother part was inspired by the first viewing; the first thing I did when I got home was write him an e-mail asking if he wanted to go. (I didn’t tell him I’d already seen it until the end credits, when he wanted to leave and I hissed “Sit down, there’s more!” As soon as I said that two people near us stopped dead in their tracks and sat.)
- Went to another baseball game, where it was COLD. Cards lost that one to the Astros in 12 innings.
- Got cable again, and subsequently rediscovered the glories of Univision and the Cowboy Bebop TV series (midnight, Cartoon Network).
- Had a fitness evaluation. I’m in borderline-above-average shape.
- Lifted lots. After the eval I decided to switch days and re-work the lower-body/midsection routine; so far it’s been working well. (I’m quite pleased with my results on the upper-body routine – yeah, I actually have a chest now – so I’m keeping it for a while longer.)
- On this past Sunday, observed my mother’s then-imminent birthday with beer and the best burger in town. It’s worth noting that she was there too, for once.
- Heard a semi-sacrilegious version of “Solsbury Hill”, and expressed my displeasure appropriately. (For the record, appropriate expressions of displeasure include screaming “WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO THAT SONG?!?!?!” at high volume.)
- Saw the classic Austin Mini again, this time on Skinker just south of Delmar (on Sunday). I got to wave to the driver and his semi-bewildered passenger this time.
OK. That should about cover it.
