An update on ME. ME ME ME ME ME.

Because I know you’ve all just been DYING to hear what I’ve been doing.

Nigel has new brakes and front tires, and is about to get a new windshield so that he can pass the state safety inspection and get new plates. Heavens. Spending the money, I am. At least the brakes were under warranty. (Right now the new brakes are disturbingly stiff, but the new tires are faboo.) Given the mad cash I’m dropping on the boy now, an iPod installation is not likely anytime in the near future.

I’ve been babysitting problematic backups for over a week now – damned files won’t fit on the tape – and the whole “get to work at 6 am” thing is getting tiresome. While I’m attempting to go to bed earlier than otherwise normal, my attempts are failing thanks to sociopathic neighbor-kids shooting off fireworks, phone calls at 23:57 about what happens when one weed-whacks a lightning bug, and my odd propensity towards hypnic jerks. This lack of sleep is playing hell with my already-loose grasp of my own native language, though going home at 3 pm is awful nice.

Pride’s this weekend. R* is coming whether he likes it or not; several of his other friends and I are making sure of that. (resistance is futile. neener.)

No puppy yet. :( Hopefully soon.

My cousin S* came through town last weekend, on her way from DC to Houston: it seems her first-half-of-the-summer-government-job was cancelled before it started, so she went home to try to make a little money. Ed and I put her up for the night at our place, after a lovely meal with the whole crew at King & I and a round of bubble tea. Very nice to see her again.

Still waiting on Ed to bring back the Netflix DVD he borrowed over a week ago. hint, hint.

Workouts have been interesting lately – my progress on leg days is slowing down, but I’m still squatting more than anybody else I see down there. (Right now I’m at 335 lbs.) However, given some other priorities, my lack of sleep, and the fact that I strained my left superior trapezius, I think I’ll skip the leg workout today and just barrel on with the upper-body workout tomorrow.

Upgraded my Mozilla to 1.7, and have been playing around with a couple extensions (a few of which may have consequences for this blog). My only complaint so far is that my favorite theme (Lo-Fi Classic) is unavailable for this version… I have to make do with Lopburi Flat.

Currently tinkering with taking a Wikipedia page – especially one of the blurb-things that appears on the Main Page, like the Featured Article or the Did You Know – and making it into an RSS feed. If I can get the feed working, I’ll post a link here.

That’s all I can think of for now.
