Just thinking.

I’d like a small, integrated audio device, which I can connect to a wired or wireless network; which will tune itself to a streaming audio feed; which has quality output; which can be configurable through a simple, platform-independent interface (perhaps via Web); which has low power requirements, perhaps even served through PoE; and which won’t cost an arm and a leg. Bonus points if it’s pretty; if it has a small LCD display with song info (artist/title/etc.); if it has a “tuner” so that someone can switch between several available streams on the fly; if it runs Linux; if it has a remote control for volume and perhaps equalization; and if it has open-source firmware.

Such a device would be SO COOL for small gatherings, and could be easily adapted to larger events or office-type environments.

Yes, I know that one can get components that do some of this; however, those components that I know of are neither cheap nor integrated nor platform-independent.

Does such a thing exist, or do I get to experiment with building one?
