OK, I know, I said I’d post Thursday or Friday and I didn’t. Sorry already. This’ll be a quick catch-up edition.

I took this past Friday and Monday off — one day as my “birthday holiday” and the other as vacation. Slept in Friday — SO NICE — and generally putzed around.

Saturday — my birthday #26 — we got up, did some quick browsing for Halloween costumes [aside brewing here], shopped for b-day presents for each other [another aside], and drove to Pere Marquette State Park in Illinois (along with everybody else in creation) for a lovely picnic. Gorgeous day for it, but too many people to be really enjoyable. Afterwards, we drove a bit on back roads (the main highway being jam-packed) and made our way home again. Baked a birthday cake that night, in our two new faboo round cake pans (b-day gift from Fred’s mother and g-mother), and cracked open my present to watch.

Aside #1: Why are all costumes for adult females of the “sexy $OCCUPATION” variety? Why are all costumes for adult males of the “goofy $OCCUPATION” variety?

Aside #2: I got Fred a book entitled Jonathan Loved David: Homosexuality in Biblical Times, which should be very helpful in his upcoming studies, and Fred got me the first season of The Amazing Race on DVD.

Sunday — Fred’s birthday — Fred and I had to sing at the church we’re currently attending in the morning, then again later for Evensong. My parents and younger brother and his mother attended the latter before coming with us to Space, where we met my older brother and his wife.

Monday… well, more putzing. Also, a doctor’s appointment (clean bills of health for both of us, yay! but also hepatitis and flu shots for both of us) and a chorus rehearsal.

More later — have a meeting for which to prepare.
