Quick update before I leave
Can’t stay long — Fred and I have company coming over tonight.
I will mention, however, that I have spent much of the last two weeks either working or writing an April Fool’s RFC (which I just submitted). More on the RFC when I hear back.
Oh, and I’ve been helping answer Wikipedia’s e-mail, and might be installing a snazzy anti-spam filter at work.
And there’s a concert coming up of the Gateway Men’s Chorus. Fred and I sang at the Sheldon a little while ago with the GMC’s small group (named “Harmonix”, or “Harmoni𝄪” if you can see the double-sharp), and it looks like that group will be doing a whole show by itself at the Sheldon in mid-May.
More later.

Randomness
A few miscellaneous things while I’m pressed for time.
It’s sort of old news, but I still think this WiFi access point turned music player is genius.
As is this fully functional air conditioner made of LEGO.
And this song, which came up while I had iTunes going on “shuffle”. I cannot get it out of my head.
But a dance remix of the Brokeback Mountain theme song? That’s just wrong on so many different levels.

in the tradition of all those other überquickie synopses: TransAmerica
No time to elaborate too much — watching the Wikipedia odometer too closely — but think the rest of y’all all should enjoy this.
Please note: Transamerica plot spoilers abound at this next link.
charliegrrrl: TransAmerica synopsis…
In the discussion section we also learn about the common Hollywood plot device of the “Magical Negro” and about the transgender documentary drinking game…

I just cannot stop refreshing that damned stats page.
So it looks like the English Wikipedia will have its millionth article posted today.
In the meantime, I just can’t stop going back to Special:Statistics and hitting “refresh”.
999,131 at this post… more by the time any of you read it.
<boggle>
UPDATE: the millionth article was created at 23:09 UTC 1 March 2006. Looks like it’s Aaron Ledesma, though there’s still a bit of haggling over specifics.
FURTHER UPDATE: OK, I was wrong, Aaron Ledesma was #1,000,003. Jordanhill railway station, about a train station in suburban Glasgow, was the millionth article.
