I just cannot stop refreshing that damned stats page.

So it looks like the English Wikipedia will have its millionth article posted today. Wikipedia nears a million articles

Seems that last night, the English Wikipedia had its 950,000th article created. Not bad, eh? Now consider that they didn’t hit 500K until March 17 2005. Now consider that anonymous users have been unable to create articles since December 5. Now consider that the 900,000th article was only created on January 4. At this rate, [...] [...]

According to a message posted today to the WikiEN-l mailing list, the English Wikipedia has been out-pacing the BBC online presence in Alexa traffic for the past couple days. The BBC is currently ranked #23 on Alexa’s 3-month average; en.wikipedia is at #32. For today’s rank, though, en.wikipedia is at #20 and bbc.co.uk is #23. [...] [...]
