Yeah, more blogslack from me, but I have an excuse this time. Read on to see.
Friday evening was fairly uneventful. I stayed home and avoided spending money, and watched it snow HARD.
Saturday, got up at the crack o’dawn and went to the Mardi Gras parade. It was, y’know, Mardi Gras - I filled my annual bare-breast-viewing quota in one morning, caught a lot of beads (until I wound up standing next to the tall SLU kids), and managed to catch the drag races (where this year’s competitors were all reeeeeally muscular). Hung around Clem’s for a while, saw a few people I knew, got hit on, and went home.
After a nice little nap, met R* at Pho Grand. Damn, I had almost forgotten how good that place is. I had the bo luc lac (”shaking beef”), he had wonton soup and a chicken dish (with ginger and onions), we split an order of spring rolls, I finished up with iced coffee and he with banana cake. Took him for a drive, which ended up at Ted Drewes for frozen custard, and back around a couple interesting neighborhoods. Ended with a kiss.
Today, I slacked at home, and went to dinner for my older brother’s birthday.
Tomorrow I have to give a training in the morning but otherwise my schedule is typical. Details to follow.

Sorry - been blogslacking again. bad jim! bad jim!
Wednesday was busyproductive; got a lot of minor bugs fixed in the spam filter and in another project. Yoga class was even better than Monday. Went to my parents’ house and relieved them of some leftovers; it seems my mother is still cooking for an army even though 3 of her sons have left home.
Thursday was busyproductive as well; took care of a few more bugs in the spam filter, ran an ACH draft, upgraded some hardware. Had a good leg ‘n’ midsection workout. In the evening I had a snuggle-date with R*; we watched Margaret Cho while curled up on the couch as yet even more snow fell. It doesn’t look like we’ll be an item, just snugglebuddies.
Today was payday, thank God. It’s also been quiet enough that I’ve been able to test and test and test that stupid listbuilder program.
Tonight, I plan to go home and catch up on my sleep, for tomorrow is the big Mardi Gras parade in Soulard. After the parade I’ll probably wind up at Clementine’s and watch the drag races. (That’s “drag” as in “burly guy in stiletto heels”, and “races” as in “running full-tilt”. Factor in the competitors’ mass consumption of Pestalozzi Street’s Finest and it’s fucking hilarious.)
I only hope that this year I will not have to fight any big skeery lesbians for beads.
Oh, and R* and I are going to Pho Grand for a non-date, being-social dinner tomorrow night. Might get interesting.
Big, huge, armwaving congratulations to my friend K* in Boston, who found out today that her book is going to be published! woo-hoo!
Now, I’m not going to promise that I’ll stop blogslacking, but I’ll definitely make an effort to avoid it this weekend.
