Yeah, yeah, blogslack, I know. Shut up already.

So I’ve been to lots of baseball games lately. There was CD case day, when I sat in the work seats with R* and had to explain a few baseball details (foul territory, the yellow line, force outs, etc.). (Give him a little credit, he grew up with cricket.)

Then there was Scott Rolen bobblehead day. I was given tickets for those at 4:55 on a Friday, when I was one of the only people at the office. Wound up there with my younger brother, waiting in line only 30 minutes (at my ’secret’ gate) to get the doll. Fortunately the Cards actually WON that game.

Finally, we have this past Saturday’s Turn Back the Clock Day game between the Cardinals and the Baltimore Orioles. Both teams wore uniforms from the 1944 season, when they last met (as the Cards and the St. Louis Browns) in the World Series. Our seats were in the left-field bleachers and we had a great vantage as Garrett Stephenson’s apathy got the better of the entire team. (Dude, you are NOT supposed to lose to the Browns like that.) Unfortunately, I developed a very appropriate color scheme on my arms and head, turning a lovely shade of cardinal in the direct June afternoon sunlight.

This morning on the way to work I was more than a little upset at the chain smoker in the car in front of me. OK, so it’s bad enough that you’re throwing crap out the windows of a moving vehicle, but do you really need to throw lit cigarettes?? I mean, hey, let me get trash from my car, light it on fire, and throw it out the window where it will fragment into thousands of burning embers blinding the guy behind me and igniting a small brush fire on the shoulder, just so I can be as cool as you! FUN!!

Saw Finding Nemo last night. It was pretty good, especially when the Pixar guys worked in all their little allusions (the Buzz Lightyear toy, the Hitchcockian seagull swarm, etc.). Ellen DeGeneres really steals the show, though - she takes the ball and goes HOME with it.

Rented Drumline on Friday. It was a little cliché and predictable at times; the cocky young prodigy comes through and saves the program, etc. But I want to see more bands do Can You Feel It in field shows.

Also rented Jackass: The Movie, and yes, I am officially ashamed of that one. Although the bit with the golf carts was INSPIRED.

I really don’t know why I’m being so caps-lock-happy all of a sudden. I mean, come ON, what is the DEAL here?

Had a checkup at the doctor’s office last week. It was great for my ego - he asked if I had been working out, mentioned that my skin was looking great (? but i’ll take the compliment), and indicated that I’m doing much better than most of his patients (a big surprise, because he has some real hot boys under his care).

Yay summer! It’s so gorgeous outside. Saturday Ed and I walked to the Festival of Nations for lunch (I had paella, he had a kebab) and we sat around in Tower Grove Park for a while, just enjoying the weather, the smells of so many different cuisines, and the steel drummer.

Hmm. Where to start.

I’ve been drawing a bit more attention from boys online lately. I’m not entirely sure why, but it isn’t always a good thing - if I’m in the middle of something and Chatty Charlie comes through “You’re cute! Are you single? What do you do? Do you want a boyfriend? Can you send any more pics?” it can get überfrustrating.

At work I’m having to play the hardass - kicking people off when they don’t shut their computers down, chastising users who share passwords, playing What-Do-You-Mean-You-Deleted-All-Your-Mail, etc. Now I think they’re afraid to call me with legitimate problems.

At home… well, I haven’t been home much. I slept much of the weekend, catching up from all that time I spent elsewhere last week; my holiday was mostly outside in the absolutely fucking GORGEOUS weather we had.

There’s another baseball game coming up, an interleaguer against the Browns - um, Orioles - the first weekend in June. I got the CFO’s suh-weet bleacher seats, located in the second row just left of straightaway center, along with specific instructions on how to handle myself. (The bleacher bums have very high standards here.)

And, um, well… i may be going to meet a boy in salt lake city soon but that isn’t definite yet.

More to come. But you know that.

There have been a lot of storms lately which have occupied my attention. I spent some real quality time on the balcony last night, watching the clouds swirling and the lightning, um, lightninging. So I haven’t been blogging. Sue me. (Not really, please. You won’t get much.)

The past week, I’ve worked, lifted weights, worked, slept, worked, etc. You know the spiel.

Hopefully things will clear up soon, allowing me more time to blog; in the meantime, sorry for the silence.

On the way home from work yesterday I saw the most ridiculous low rider ever. Folks, please. If you drive a primer-colored ‘85 Plymouth Reliant, don’t bother lowering it or putting in the heavy-duty stereo. Save your money and get a better car. No, really. You’ll just have to trust me on this one.

And while I’m thinking about driving, St. Louis drivers would do well to watch their driving on Magnolia Avenue (by Tower Grove Park). I’ve seen 3 different people get pulled over for speeding, and all 3 times the po-po’s have opted to search the car. As Saba told Julio and Tenoch in Y Tu Mamà Tambièn, “Hide your Buddha and drive like a saint.”

OK. So enough of the public-service part of this blog. Tomorrow I don’t have to work! YAY! I think I’ll be going to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, just down the block. It’s supposed to be a gorgeous spring day; should be a very happy time to go. And next week my boss and a co-worker will be out of town, and I’m thiiiiiis close to starting up beta-testing on a few projects, and my workouts are getting productive, and there’s beer around the house. Life is goooood.

Been slacking again… sorry.

Thursday night I heard from the cute neighbor. :) We had a nice little phone conversation, and there may be more in the future. (I’m not sure I want to divulge too much more on that front; generally, when I do that, I overflow on optimism.)

Friday was a very blah day weatherwise. It rained some but was mostly just cold and overcast - a last hurrah for winter. Work was the typical procession of whiny users, bitching about how I haven’t materialized on their doorsteps yet.

However… My office has 2 half-season tickets to the Cardinals games. (That is, they have 2 seats at the home opener, and 4 seats each at every other home game.) They held a drawing for the two seats to yesterday’s home opener, and though I didn’t win, I was asked to go. by the single most boring co-worker on the face of the earth. *cringe* After a little hand-wringing I decided to bite the bullet and just go.

Saturday I did absolutely nothing. It was GREAT.

Sunday morning I was liturgist at my parents’ church. It was “hymn sing Sunday” so I had to provide transitions from one song to the next; I was bored so I kicked it into Baptist preacher mode. After the service I was asked several times if I was planning to enter the ministry; I gave the official “It doesn’t interest me” (which is true) but not the actual “They won’t let me because I like to kiss other men”. And then some woman tried to guess my age and was WAY off - she asked if I was 27 or 28, and I just narrowed my eyes, clenched my teeth, and said “No, I’m 23″. grrr.

Went home just long enough to change, then picked up my mother and younger brother to go see Spirited Away at my favorite theater. It was good - definitely better than Princess Mononoke - but I don’t know if I’d describe it as the “greatest ever” (as others have).

After dinner at my parents I met my friend Jimmy, his long-distance BF, and a few other people for drinks at a nearby lesbian martini bar. I had a fair amount of gin - mmm, gin - and we yammered on for a couple hours. I’ll have to go back sometime.

Yesterday (Monday) I cranked out some work before ditching at 2ish. I’ll have to post about the game itself later.
